PID is quite simply an infection in a women’s reproductive organs.This includes issues related to gonorrhea and chlamydia. This can be a major issue related to fertility challenges. Some women can be asymptomatic (this means there are no symptoms) so regular checkups from your doctor are vital, especially if you are sexually active. An untreated PID infection can lead to permanent irreparable damage causing infertility. Please make sure you get checkups and if you show any signs what-so-ever of an infection get to the doc ASAP. Most common symptoms are: discharge, smell or odor emanating from the vagina, pain with urination or intercourse, abdominal pain and/or fever. I am not a huge fan of antibiotics but this is one of those circumstances where one would undoubtedly be indicated.
