An elevation in your blood pressure diagnosed by your physician. The elevation is generally above 140/90 to be considered hypertensive (also known as High Blood Pressure). Elevations in your blood pressure can be indicators for heart attacks and strokes. Women who experience high blood pressure before or during pregnancy are in an increased classification for complications such as diabetes, preeclampsia and/or placental abruption.
