Why youâre here:Â A functional evaluation is being done to pinpoint any physiological gaps that might be standing between you and optimal health.
đ§Ș LabCorp Blood Work
- Requisition: Print the LabCorp requisition exactly as it appearsâthis single sheet is the only way the lab will draw your blood. No printed copy = no draw. This is what proves you are part of our lab co-op and gives you that near wholesale discount on labs.
- Preparation:
- Fasting: Nothing (food or drink, however, water is always good) after midnight the night before the test. If you need your morning coffee, please skip the sugar and creamer/milk.
- Timing: Aim for the first appointment of the day (most LabCorp sites open aroundâŻ8âŻa.m.). Early arrivals mean shorter wait times and less time spent hungry. We highly recommend you book an appointment with the lab directly for that early morning slot to avoid any delays and bypassing any walk-ins.
- Location: If you are local to Huntington: 3135 16th Street Rd. Ste 10 | Huntington, WV 25701 | Ph: 304-523-9853 | Hours: M-F 8AM-4:30PM Lunch 12:30-1PM.
- Those outside of Huntington please go to labcorp.com to find a draw site closest to you and select “Routine Labwork” for the locations.
- Hydration:Â Arrive with a full bladder because the lab will also collect a urine sample.
- Fuel window: Reminder: This is a very large blood draw so please Eat and Hydrate promptly once youâre done! We recommend having a protein bar and juice box in the car to consume before you get on the road.
- Result turnaround: Bloodâwork results are returned to the office quicklyâusually within 5 business days.
- Location limits:Â The requisition works only at LabCorp PCS locations that perform routine lab work. Some sites are drugâtestingâonly and will turn you away.
- Payment: The âAccount Billâ box is preâchecked, so you wonât pay at the drawing station. Payments go straight to Dr.âŻSkipâs practice; insurance cannot be used with this form. If asked for insurance, simply state you have an âAccount Billâ requisition.
đ§ ZRT Saliva Hormone Kit (if a kit is ordered for you)
- Result timeline: Saliva results take ~ 10âŻbusiness days after the lab receives your sampleâsignificantly longer than the blood work.
- Kit handling:
- Fill only ONE vial to at least threeâquarters full, avoiding bubbles by tapping the sample. Discard the other two vials unless you receive explicit instructions to use them.
- Do not select a test type on the kit yourself; the lab already has the ordered panels on file. Choosing an unâordered test will delay processing.
- Collection day guidance (based on why the hormones are being measured):
- Fertility concerns: Collect on Cycle DayâŻ3.
- Menopause, irregular periods or unknown cycle day:Â Collect whenever convenient.
- Perimenopause, PMS, or related issues: Collect on Cycle DaysâŻ19â22.
- Male patients: Collection day does not matter.
- Freezing Sample: If you cannot mail the sample within the week, please freeze the sample until you can do so.
- Shipping & receipt: The kit is sent directly from ZRT to your home via Priority Mail (ââŻ5âŻbusiness days). If it hasnât arrived within that window (or if you paid for expedited handling and itâs still missing), contact the office so we can track it.
- Return logistics:Â A prepaid UPS (brownâguys) envelope is included. Snap a photo of the UPS label before mailingâthis helps resolve any delivery hiccups.
đ Next Steps & FollowâUp
- Lab result review: Once both the blood and saliva results are in the office, Dr.âŻSkip spends roughly one hour analyzing them. This functional assessment informs a customized protocol that targets the root causes of your symptoms, not just the surface manifestations.
- Scheduling: After the review, the office will reach out to let you know the results are ready and itâs time to book your followâup appointment with self-booking links for your convenience.
- Contact options:
- Message through our Patient Portal.
- Call 304â634â9700 ext. 5
- Important Questions in the meantime: Directly book a session with Dr.âŻSkip (even a brief 30âminute slot for quick questions).
- Patience with timing: Some labs, especially the saliva kit, take longer. If the office seems quiet, itâs likely weâre still awaiting those results or creating the customized functional report. Feel free to check in anytimeâyouâll hear back promptly.
