MCH (Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin): measures the average amount of hemoglobin in each red blood cell. Hemoglobin is the protein that carries oxygen throughout your body. Normal MCH means each red blood cell has a healthy amount of hemoglobin. Low MCH may indicate iron deficiency anemia, meaning your red blood cells carry less oxygen than normal. High MCH may suggest vitamin B12 or folate deficiency, which can cause red blood cells to be larger and carry more hemoglobin.
