🌿 Community Acupuncture – A Shared Healing Experience

Community Acupuncture involves treating multiple patients simultaneously within a shared space, fostering a serene and tranquil environment. While discussions are minimized and talking isn’t actively encouraged to maintain this peaceful ambiance, patients receive treatment collectively. This approach contrasts with personalized acupuncture, where sessions typically occur in private rooms with a one‑on‑one interaction between the patient and practitioner. Conversely, one‑on‑one sessions offer an enhanced opportunity for a comprehensive health consultation, which may encompass modalities such as manual medicine, functional medicine, and oxidative medicine. 🤝 Why Choose Community Acupuncture?

  • Increased Availability: By allowing the acupuncturist to see more people in an hour, we can treat more patients who need quick relief (see the list of treatments available below).
  • Cost‑Effective: Group settings let us offer a sliding‑scale model based on income, making care far more affordable. We do not file insurance claims for community acupuncture. Sliding scale based on your annual net income:
    • $0‑20 k → $35 per treatment
    • $20‑40 k → $40 per treatment
    • $40‑65 k → $45 per treatment
    • $65‑100 k → $50 per treatment
    • $100 k+ → $55 per treatment
  • Shorter Appointment Times: Sessions are completed in under 45 minutes from arrival, so your time commitment is minimal. If you skip the meditative period, you can be out in about 20 minutes.
  • Quiet Meditative Space: Sessions are intentionally quiet and meditative; a brief check‑in form tells the acupuncturist what you need.
  • Bring Family/Friends: Many people find comfort in a collective setting, and it often makes one‑on‑one treatments feel even more meaningful.

🛠️ How Community Acupuncture Works

During a group session you’ll sit comfortably in a chair, fully clothed. Dr. Skip will insert semi‑permanent ear needles or seeds based on the treatment you selected at sign‑in. Options include:

Chairs are spaced out, soft music plays, and the atmosphere stays relaxed. Once the needles are in, you can unwind for up to 45 minutes, or leave earlier if you’re in a hurry. When your time is up, we’ll gently tap you to let you know it’s time to finish.

🙏 Etiquette for a Calm Community Setting

  • Keep conversation to a minimum: The space is reserved for quiet, peaceful meditation.
  • No phones in the treatment room: Please leave phones in your car or on silent, out of respect for everyone.
  • Be gracious: You may encounter diverse individuals, including occasional snorers. Feel free to bring earplugs, headphones, a favorite pillow, or a blanket—whatever helps you stay comfortable without disturbing others.
  • Respect time & the community model: Because we treat multiple patients in an hour, the session isn’t meant for detailed health discussions. If you’d like a one‑on‑one consultation, see Jason (J.) at the front office to book time with Dr. Skip.
  • Self‑booking required: To keep community acupuncture accessible, please book online (see above). If you lack internet access, call us at 304‑634‑9700 ext. 5 and we’ll gladly assist.
