C-Reactive Protein, Cardiac (CRP): This test measures a protein made by your liver called C-Reactive Protein (CRP). Levels rise in your blood when there is inflammation in the body. The cardiac (high-sensitivity) CRP test looks specifically for low levels of inflammation linked to the heart and blood vessels. Lower CRP levels are generally better and suggest less inflammation. Higher CRP levels may point to more inflammation and a higher risk for heart disease or future heart problems.
