Clinical Applications
- Useful for treating all types of skin burns (thermal, chemical) as well as simple sunburns
- Helps relieve pain, decrease inflammation, and promote regeneration of damaged skin tissue
- When used properly and early, may reduce blistering, scarring, and speed healing
- Apply once daily (after cleaning); a sterile gauze dressing can help protect the area and prevent contamination/inflammation (change daily)
Western Therapeutic Actions
- Menthol 1% acts as a mild topical analgesic and cooling agent, providing symptomatic relief of pain and itching
- The cream’s anti‑inflammatory effects may help modulate local cytokine / mediator release in injured tissue
- In more severe or infected burns, standard care includes monitoring white blood cell count (WBC), CRP (C‑reactive protein), procalcitonin, electrolytes, and wound cultures as needed — abnormal elevations may indicate infection or systemic response
- Always coordinate with a physician (“Dr. Skip”) if lab abnormalities or systemic signs (fever, spreading redness, swelling) occur
TCM Therapeutic Actions
- Clears heat and fire toxins from the skin (i.e. local heat, redness, and burning sensation)
- Promotes blood circulation and Qi movement in the local channels to foster tissue repair
- Detoxifies and resolves “fire poison” (i.e. suppressed inflammation and infection)
- Encourages regeneration of skin by combining herbs like dong‑gui, myrrh, mastic, sanguisorba, quince, safflower to support healing
- Harmonizes local yin and yang balance to restore skin integrity
Dosage
- For adults and children 2 years and older: apply a thin layer 1 time per day (or up to 3–4 times daily if needed) to the affected area
- For first or second degree burns: clean the area gently, dry, apply cream, then optionally cover with sterile gauze
- For third degree burns without infection: treat similarly, but use a bit more cream
- For third degree burns with infection: daily cleaning, more generous cream application, close monitoring
- Do not apply more often than 4 times in 24 hours
- Available in 10 g tubes or 30 g jars

Nutritional Guidance
- Favor anti‑inflammatory foods: e.g. fresh vegetables (leafy greens, broccoli), berries, turmeric, ginger, omega‑3 rich fish (if diet allows)
- Avoid pro‑inflammatory or processed foods, high in sugar, refined carbs, deep‑fried foods
- Maintain adequate protein intake (e.g. lean meats, legumes) to support tissue repair
- Drink sufficient clean water to maintain hydration and support wound healing
- Limit alcohol, caffeine, and smoking (if applicable), as they impair circulation and healing
Lifestyle Instructions
- Keep the wound area clean and dry (except when re-applying cream)
- Use sterile gauze dressing to protect and reduce risk of contamination; change daily
- Avoid sun exposure to the damaged skin until healed
- Wear loose clothing to avoid friction or irritation around the burn site
- Rest and reduce stress — good sleep and reduced stress help immune and repair mechanisms
- Monitor closely — if signs of infection (pain, heat, swelling, pus), fever, or spreading redness, seek medical attention promptly
- Use Frog Fuel daily for collagen for skin and tissue repair.
