In the Ayurvedic healing tradition meditation is a key component to help to balance the system to reduce and eliminate the occurence of the allergies. This is due to the issue that most allergies are related to stress. Stress management is something that every person should spend time daily working on. Overloading the system daily with stress causes horrific side effects on the body. This can be anything from being cranky or insomnia to heart attacks and strokes.
As simple meditation where you sit in a comfy chair, close your eyes and concentrate on your inhalation and exhalation is more than adequate. There are many ways to meditation. Contact me and I will be happy to teach you some very effective meditation practices or you can even grab the book “The Relaxation Response” by Dr. Benson. It’s a quick read and very helpful.
If your allergies are more than stress related than the next step would be to take a look at the foods that you are eating as well as the health of your gastrointestinal tract. Food elimination and supplements to help revive your “gut” may very well be the missing link.
A very simple technique to assist with blocking environmental allergies is to use Herbalized Neem oil to an exposed part of the body. By applying this oil to the skin you are gaining the disinfecting properties as well as reducing the contact with the allergen culprit. The reason you should use a herbalized version is that pure neem extract is much too intense. This can cause an irritation or additional reaction to the skin. If you want to use pure neem extract dilute it with equal parts of organic coconut oil.
Please do not forget the importance of the intestinal track (gut) and it’s role in allergies…both environmental as well as seasonal. What we put in our mouths daily has the most implication to our health. It is totally in our hands and in our control to make the choice.
The most highly reactive substances to our bodies has been shown to be things like – eggs, all dairy, corn, wheat and gluten. Don’t forget about pesticides and chemicals as well such as additives like food dyes, artificial sweeteners and MSG (monosodium glutamate). Please make a conscious decision to not continue to pollute your body with these substances.
I admit it can be a challenge to reduce and eliminate them as they are everywhere and in just about everything. The overall result will be a positive one to your body, immune system and overall health and well-being — as any reduction in the toxins that we expose ourselves too is beneficial.
