Bad Breath?
Are you self conscious about your breath? Did you know that 80% of bad breath is caused from bacteria that has accumulated on your tongue? This bacteria looks like white-yellowish coating on the tongue. Remove this film gently with a stainless steel tongue cleaner.
I recommend doing this technique once daily in the morning, right before you do your meditation. What I do in the morning is – brush my teeth, gargle with H.P.M. (hydrogen peroxide mouthwash from Heritage) and then clean my tongue. Some of the newer toothbrushes have a tongue cleaner built-in. While they work I don’t feel that they remove the majority of the coating that the stainless steel tongue cleaner does. Don’t forget to floss too!
David Greenspan of the Chopra Center always uses the acronym R.P.M. in regards to meditation. Rise, Pee and Meditate – I love this. It is a great morning ritual. Just be sure to add the tongue cleaning into it.
You will notice that your mouth and breath are clean and fresh. Please be gentle on your tongue - clean your tongue with light pressure. The best way to brush your teeth is to make a paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. This is a gentle and effective way to clean the teeth without the use of conventional toothpastes – which contain harmful ingredients. Keep your eyes peeled for an artice on Fluoride. If you are going to use a toothpaste – please consider a brand such as Spry or Tom’s of Maine. Personally, I use the baking soda and peroxide mixture 2-3 times per week and Spry Peppermint Toothpaste the remainder, and I always choose products without fluoride.
The white film that accumulates on your tongue is a direct connection to your digestion and the foods you are consuming.
